Vendors are becoming a major force in the work we do in Student Affairs. Considering technology, your campus may not have the infrastructure to create an in-house software, app or communicaiton platform. As technology shifts daily, there are a number of companies that have built opportunities to serve and support.
With the ACPA and NASPA annual conferences approaching, this post with feature all companies at the ACPA Annual Convention that will be exhibitors. I will post again next week on the NASPA conference. While there a number of companies that I am a fan of on these lists, I am not paid for this post.
I write this post to share the importance of knowing the players in edtech and how building relationships with them will benefit your network and resources. These educational technology companies need our voices. They need to know if their products are on the right path for what students, staff and entire campuses need. I am even seeing some, like Check I’m Here, amplifying Student Affairs voices by featuring them as writers for their blog. What else should they be exploring?
We will see more and more vendors related to educational technology at higher education related conferences.
My challenge: Instead of going to the expo hall just for the free coffee, ice cream or pens – go in with intention. Learn what’s trending from these technology companies, take in their knowledge of tech advancements in 2016 and further share your insights into the work you do on a daily basis.
Have a fantastic ACPA conference – and if you aren’t here follow along at #ACPA16.
