In this session, three models of student influencer programs will be shared, from low-budget ambassador programs to paid influencer content on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

Dr. Josie Ahlquist

Josie has over two decades of experience working in higher education, with the last ten years focused on educating, researching, and writing about building digital communities and the empowerment of digital leadership. Learn more about Josie’s experience and passion, as well as her research, consulting, speaking, publications, and more!

The Student Social Media Academy

The Student Social Media Academy is a self-paced online learning experience, developed as a one-stop shop for student strategists in higher education, teaching them how to integrate the college or university’s brand, voice, and tone into the digital marketing or social media plan.

Tim Alexander

Resident Director, Chapman University, Residence Life and First-Year Experience (RLFYE)

Born and raised in Orange County, Tim found his calling in serving underrepresented, underserved, and under-resourced students. He discovered his passion for fostering inclusivity and belonging while pursuing his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). He pursued his Master of Science in Higher Education at CSUF, concurrently serving as a part-time graduate assistant in Residence Life and First-Year Experience at Chapman University in 2017.

Now, Tim has returned to his Chapman University family with zeal, assuming the role of a full-time Resident Director in RLFYE. He is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of global citizens through co curricular learning, facilitating successful transitions toward graduation, and most importantly, cultivating a safe, inclusive, and healthy community for all students.

Tim firmly believes that every student deserves a sense of belonging and strives tirelessly to create an environment where all students feel welcomed and supported. His college campus not only served as his educational institution but also became his figurative and literal home. Now, he feels immensely privileged to contribute to shaping a community he is proud to call his new home.

Rebekah Tilley

Assistant Vice President, University of Iowa Center for Advancement

Rebekah Tilley is the assistant vice president of communication and marketing for the University of Iowa Center for Advancement (UICA). In that role she supports fundraising and alumni engagement efforts for the university, including its CASE Gold winning Iowa Magazine, and serves UICA in a variety of strategic communication efforts.

Previously she was the director of strategic communication for the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business, and the director of communication for the University of Kentucky College of Law. She is a Kentucky native and a proud alum of the University of Kentucky.
