Leadership lives online.

It can seem impossible to build a thriving social media presence while keeping ahead of the real-world pressures that come with juggling students, stakeholders, and personnel. But your community is also on social media, which means you need to be, too. My personalized coaching curriculum is customizable, research-backed, and designed to deliver the sustainable strategy you need to lead the conversation about your institution, wherever it occurs.

How can I help you lead today?

Evaluation

The first step on your digital leadership journey is knowing where you stand. My Digital Engagement Report Card will help you get a clear sense of where you are and how you can improve.

It includes:

Investment: Starts at $2,500

Josie Ahlquist is an acknowledged expert at digital communications and engagement. She did a superb job of coaching and guiding my team and I through how to more effectively utilize social media to promote our division and university.

Her guidance and expertise led to significant improvements in our overall digital engagement strategy, and in turn increased the level of engagement on social media to more than three times the previous year. I would highly recommend her for any organization seeking to improve its ability to effectively communicate and engage on a wide variety of digital platforms.

Evolution

If you’re looking for a clear roadmap to establish or improve your digital presence, you are in the right place.

Now more than ever, campus executives need to intentionally establish a personalized presence and social media strategy that aligns with their career goals, university needs, and unique voice. My Connected Exec Program can help.

The Connected Exec Program includes:

Investment: $7,500

As the only Senior Leader at my institution with a social media presence, I am alone in this space and without a peer or colleague to discuss the opportunities and challenges inherent in this space. Josie is my person. She is who I go to with questions, requests for guidance, benchmarking, and camaraderie. She is often one of the only people who gets it and can be my guide and confidant in this work.

One of the best things Josie has done is create a community for those of us that are leading in the social media space. She provides a place where we can connect with others and learn from them but she also helps us find "our people."

About Me

Your Digital Engagement and Leadership Consultant and Executive Coach

After more than a decade working on college campuses, I launched my own business and transitioned into the role of executive consultant, independent speaker, and hands-on coach on all things related to digital engagement and leadership in higher education. I have worked with countless campus leaders behind the scenes to support and empower them to extend their influence and leadership using social media tools. Through one-on-one consulting engagements, cabinet-level training, and dozens of workshops for management teams in institutions across the world, I’ve been able to help support some of the top voices in higher education as they find new ways to connect with their constituents and build meaningful communities online.

I back up my curriculum and coaching with grant-funded and award-winning research, which you can find in the Handbook of Student Affairs Administration textbook, The Journal of Leadership Studies, Contested Issues in Student Affairs, New Directions in Student Services, and New Directions in Student Leadership.

I have been featured in Inside Higher Education, The Chronicle of Higher Education, and served as a keynote at CASE, NASPA, ACPA, NODA, NACA, ALE, and SACSCOC conferences. I have written extensively about campus leaders who are taking their influence online, including:

For the fifth year in a row, I was named to the “Top 50 Must-Read Higher Education Technology Blogs” by EdTech Magazine. My podcast, Josie & The Podcast, was featured by The Chronicle of Higher Ed and Inside Higher Ed. My book, Digital Leadership in Higher Education, was published in 2020. In 2023, Josie was honored as a NASPA Pillar of the Profession, one of the heights honors in the field of Student Affairs.
